Pleasant Burden, Bouguereau

Neoclassical painting from the academic school, titled "Pleasant Burden", painted in 1895 by William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
They are possibly two sisters: the older one, happy to pamper the younger one by carrying her on her back, and the younger one, enjoying the tender moment. William-Adolphe has crafted the background in such a way that it is darker at the bottom, and at the top of the painting, it is luminous and blurred at the height of the two girls' heads, as if the sunlight were projecting from behind their heads or from the upper left part of the work.
The work on the faces is striking, where one can appreciate exquisite definition and clarity in the facial expressions. The painter achieves this by placing the light behind them, casting a small shadow over the eyes, noses, and mouths.
