A painting titled "Nature’s Fan" also known as "Girl with Child", was created in 1881 by William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
The somewhat distant look of the young woman towards the child, as she makes him laugh and plays with him amid the forest, suggests a certain degree of detachment. This suggests that, rather than depicting a mother or older sister, the painter might be portraying a nanny. Thus, it seems no coincidence that Jerome (Jerry) and Helen Stern, through their children's nanny, met the famous American preacher Kathryn Kuhlman, who later bequeathed this artwork to them in her will.
Currently, it is on long-term loan to the Portland Art Museum in Oregon, United States, from the Stern couple.
