The painting depicts two sisters: the younger one tenderly hugging the older one, both barefoot, positioned at the entrance of a city house, under the spring sun at three in the afternoon. William's impeccable work on forms and movements in the academic style compels us to contemplation. The wall marks behind them, which practically vanish from sight due to the light reflection, enhance the faces and the texture of the velvety skirts, while the orange dispels any doubts of depth and ensures the volumes. Both girls seem to be posing especially for the artist.
